Bustin’ Out With Buster!

Who’s tired of the same old “New Year, Same Bullshit!?”

“Same!! I’m tired of it for you too. For the first time, I am opening up LCR Headquarters for our first Punch Therapy class, focused on you and what you need to get out of this experience while getting some of that bottled-up frustration out! Coach Buster will be here to help with the Boxing and fun side, and I’ll be here to help battle against that inner voice and build up that confidence muscle.”

-Holly, Founder of Lucky Cats Rescue

When I started Boxing with Buster in the back of this studio all those years ago, I truly underestimated how much I needed this outlet in addition to the therapist I talked to, and I know if I didn’t have him to help me create this space, I never would have found this. A boxing class and gym are not what I needed, but I did need some Buster in my life, and I’m proud to team up with him to be in your corner of life! In and outside of this space. Say “Fuck it!” and sign up today 🖤❤️🖤

Class Information:

On Tuesday, January 3rd from noon-12:30 pm, we would like to host four humans to join Buster and me for our first open “Punch Therapy” class. This is not a fitness class. This class is designed to welcome those needing a safe place to get out some pent-up frustration, to be met & supported where you are, and to be encouraged along the way. No boxing experience is needed! This class is available to those of the LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY ONLY!! Yesss youuuu!!!

We want to host one pair of humans that would like to come together and support each other and two individuals that don't have anyone that would join them but want to come out anyways. I will partner with one and a special guest with the other participant. No special equipment or clothing is required. Just wear something loose and comfortable, sneakers, and some water. WARNING: fun might be had, and yelling and laughing will be encouraged. (Kitties will not be in attendance, we don't want to scare them.)

Mission:

We aim to provide a new safe, and supportive environment for the LGBTQ+ community, create an outlet to vent, express yourself and your truth, and build inner confidence through the power of Punch Therapy.

Purpose:

To provide a safe place where someone can be supported and encouraged, to help build self-confidence, and allow yourself to let go of some of the things we hold deep inside—one punch at a time, at your pace, with no judgment and bullshit platitudes.

Headquarters Information:

This class is hosted by Holly, the founder of Lucky Cats Rescue, in the LCR Headquarters in Watertown, MA. This space has been Holly’s private “Tattoo Sanctuary” for many years, and she has now expanded to include the current LCR-HQ, where we will be hosting our community events starting in 2023.

This private tattoo studio has become our “Tattoo Sanctuary,” and the clients who have entered since turning private have learned to appreciate some of the reasons. It has allowed everyone to openly talk one on one about the things, good and bad, that led them to come to get tattooed, have their “Fuck It Moments,” and embrace their tattoo journey. To bring the things they feel and experience from inside and be vulnerable and strong enough to wear it on the outside. Unfortunately, some of the general public are not considerate enough to respect the posted signs on the door and have interrupted and violated the studio’s & clients’ privacy. In addition, Holly has suffered her own traumatic experiences inside and outside of the studio and decided it was time to invest in a door lock system to aid in its privacy and security, both essential to Holly for herself and her clients.

When you are in this space, you are welcomed openly, but we also pledge to have your back! Hate is not allowed in here!! As much as we promise to protect and watch out for the cats that enter our homes, we promise to watch out for the humans that need and deserve help and protection to be defended and supported too!

My Story:

Hi, I’m Holly, the founder of Lucky Cats Rescue, owner of Always & Forever Tattoo, feral human, cat mom, and griever. I have spent the last six years having private weekly “punch therapy sessions” with the one and only Buster Paris of Lucky Punch Boxing. He has been on the other side of my punches, allowing me to say what I need to say, to debate the points and thoughts that plague my brain and heart. He has let me scream at him, laugh with him, and cry a lot, and more than anything, he has helped me create a safe environment where I can throw punches at him while doing those things. He has tried to make me feel better, only to feel the wrath, he has tried to get me to do things he would do with his other clients and in the local boxing gyms, he works with. He has tried to get me to join some sparring sessions and lure me out to the gym; Buster has been unsuccessful.... he knows why....

As I have reminded him and yelled at noisome to him, “It’s not about that!”

Buster first became my client not long after I moved back to MA in 2009, and I have said for years, “everyone needs a pocket Buster, so when you are having a bad day, he can be right there to annoy you and somehow cheer you up anyways.” He has worked with me on my “Punch Therapy” in the back room of my studio for the last six years, he has been patient, accommodating to what I needed, and listened, and I know that he has not divulged any of the information I have ever shared with him. He knows things my most trusted therapist doesn’t know, and he knows that if he ever told anyone, I would fuck him up. But I know he won’t, and if there is anyone that I would like to collaborate with on this project, he is the one.
