Lucky Cats Rescue Announces Dissolution of Hudson Property Deal
HUDSON, MA — [October 6, 2025] — Lucky Cats Rescue (LCR), a local nonprofit dedicated to providing lifetime care for cats and fostering healing through compassion, art, and community, has officially dissolved its deal to acquire a property in Hudson, Massachusetts, for the future Sanctuary, Grief, and Wellness Center.
As president of LCR, it is essential to stand firm in representing the mission while also advocating for myself, the cats, and the community we serve. While I hoped this property would be “the one,” the reality is that it was unworthy of our mission — and that was the biggest disappointment. Walking away was the right decision, because it’s always okay to speak up for yourself, to stand your ground, to stand up for truth and facts, and to let go of things that are not worthy for you. Even when those involved in negotiations on my behalf kept pulling me back in, I was saying no, but the process continued.
On a personal level, I am incredibly disappointed and honestly shocked by many things that have transpired this year and since I inquired about this property. I believed for a period of time that the family that built and owns the property would appreciate our desire to preserve and turn their space made for gathering and sharing with loved ones, into a Sanctuary and safe space for many more. But I was wrong, and it was proved to me over the last few months. The amount of fight I have had to endure over basic facts has only left me struggling with emotional flashbacks of being in an abusive relationship.
Between the lenders, real estate agents, and lawyers…… Just wow… my nervous system started reacting to it back in May, if I could have seen then how much worse it was about to get, I absolutely would have walked away then. However, I chose to trust another agent and let professionals handle the situation. But I believe that someone in the mix never wanted this to go through, and I wish they had just said that from the start. This will serve as a reminder for me and will help in the future when the time comes again. Compass Realty and LaMacchia Realty have some significant issues lurking behind the scenes, but ultimately, the people are the reason why this deal collapsed.
What the truth is, and what was greatly underestimated by the agents, is that we already have everything we need to keep moving forward with our vision, and in true punk rock/DIY fashion. We will continue to build our programs, foster healing, and create safe spaces using the resources we already have. Just as with our original sanctuary, Always & Forever Tattoo Studio, we’ll always ensure that our spaces remain safe, comfortable, and welcoming for everyone.
This step back gives us the time to heal, regroup, and learn from past mistakes — and most importantly, to forgive ourselves so that we can move forward stronger. While the Hudson property didn’t turn out to be our forever home, we know the right one is still out there waiting. Our commitment to the sanctuary mission remains unwavering and if anything, only grows strong in the face of adversity locally and nationally: healing, compassion, and lifetime care for the cats who call Lucky Cats Rescue home and the humans that love them.
This decision was not easy, but I am confident it was the right one. Walking away is not a failure. It’s an act of self-advocacy and a reminder that our mission is stronger than any one piece of property. The right home for our sanctuary will come at the right time. Until then, we won't stop!
